Sandmeyer's Bookstore
Founded by Ulrich and Ellen Sandmeyer in May 1982, Sandmeyer’s Bookstore has been a cornerstone of Chicago’s Printers Row and South Loop neighborhoods for over three decades. Both Ulrich and Ellen were librarians, and their deep love for literature and community shaped the vision behind the store. They wanted to create a bookstore that would serve a vibrant, diverse community, and that vision has come to life through Sandmeyer’s Bookstore, which has become not just a place to find books but a gathering space for readers of all ages.
